3 Ideas for Redecorating Your Garage

garage decorations
We always want to put our best foot forward when decorating our homes. It does, after all, reflect our personality and taste. This is probably the reason why we put a lot of focus into our living room and bedroom as well. After all, it’s where we usually spend most of our time. However, we must not forget the other parts of our home as well, since they also equally reflect who we are.
One of these areas that require more attention is the garage. And because we’re not always there, or it’s not a place where we usually invite guests too, we can understand how easy it is to neglect, or worse, to turn it as a catch-all for all the clutter we want to hide. Fortunately, it is possible to reorganize your garage and make it more beautiful and functional. And that’s what we are going to share with you in this article today.

Add Color

One of the reasons why some of us don’t really enjoy hanging in the garage is that it can sometimes make us feel as if we’re in a cave. The best way to remedy this is to choose a new and brighter color to liven it up. It can also give the illusion of a wider space.
Don’t forget the floor as well. It’s a good way to incorporate more color and pattern into your garage space, especially since walls can easily get covered up with tools and storage.

Home Interior Accessories

Another way to breathe some life into your garage space is by incorporating various home interior accessories. You have different options to choose from when it comes to decor elements, but lighting and wall displays are at the top of our list.

Lighting

Lighting fixtures are great because they are both functional and decorative. For your garage, we recommend two types: one overhead lighting for general purposes, and focused lighting for your specific needs.
Surprise everyone with an unconventional choice, like a stylish chandelier with a classic or industrial aesthetic, depending on the look that you’re going for. As for focused lighting choices, we recommend sticking to more discreet spotlights to accent certain areas of your garage, like your wall displays and storage units. Not only will they bring focus to your displays, but they’ll also help you locate your things faster. After all, there’s nothing more frustrating than struggling to find a certain tool just because you don’t have adequate lighting.

Wall Displays

Speaking of wall displays, here are some ideas:
  • A trophy shelf. Do you have any car-related trophies or mementos? Then display them with pride with their own shelf.
  • A tool board. Don’t allow your tools to be forgotten inside storage bins. Instead, hang them in a wide pegboard for easy access. Take your time to arrange them in a pleasing way in order to avoid visual clutter.
  • A bike wall. Not only will your bikes look impressive hanging in a wall, but they’ll also motivate you to use them more frequently since they’re more attention-grabbing that way.
There are other things that you can display in your garage aside from the ones that we have shared above. Just take the function of your garage into consideration. For instance, if you use a corner of your garage as a craft space, then there’s no reason why you can’t hang your favorite craft tools from a pegboard as well.

Stylish Storage

Display walls can be pretty limited, though. You wouldn’t want to hang things that are not aesthetically pleasing for all the world to see, right? Not to mention that you can’t really hang all your things.
What’s more, is that despite how we promote living a minimal life without clutter, we also recognize that there are some things that you simply can’t throw away but can’t afford to keep inside your living space (like occasional decor).
The usual go-to storage systems are plastic bins. We recommend getting stackable ones. Some people prefer to get translucent ones so that they can easily see what’s inside. We, however, prefer getting opaque bins. They look less cluttered. The secret is to simply label each of them properly.
We also prefer using cabinets with adjustable shelves. They are definitely more stylish than plastic bins and will make your garage look more elevated and stylish. The adjustable shelves will also help you store (or hide) bigger or chunkier equipment, or those that won’t normally fit in fixed-shelves units.

To Sum Up

Your garage doesn’t have to look like a cave or a forgotten storage unit. There are certainly ways to breathe some new life into it. Don’t be afraid to introduce bright colors and decorative lighting elements. Display your best stuff, and put everything else in stylish storage units.
By keeping the tips we have shared with you in mind, we’re sure that your garage will look fab in no time. Don’t blame us if you suddenly find yourself spending more time in it than usual, though. Have fun redecorating!
