Travel trailer must-have accessories for an easier trip
First Aid Kits
Safety should always be your top priority and having one or a few first aid kits with you when you travel is an excellent choice. Hand-Held Vacuum
The RV vacuum cleaner is designed particularly for use in an RV or travel trailers because of the tiny areas and often limited access. The most common type of RV vacuums is a central vac, although there are other corded and cordless options. Both systems may be used effectively in an RV, and assessing your specific needs will help you decide which is best for you.
Cleaning the little places in your RV may not take long, but it is necessary on a regular basis because the quantity of sand and grime that builds rapidly might be aggravating.
RV Trailer Insurance
Getting an RV trailer insurance is another travel essential. Protecting your trailer from physical harm is one of the most important reasons to get travel trailer insurance. Adjustable Ball Mount
There are 4 different classes of ball mounts and they have different camp towing capacities.
- The class I ball mount - can be installed on subcompact and compact cars but also on bigger cars such as pickups, vans and utility vehicles. The towing capacity of the class I ball mount is 2,000 lbs and it’s great for towing small trailers such as motorcycle trailers and fishing boat trailers.
- The class II and class III ball mounts - can be installed on mid-sized cars and small pickups as well as on minivans, vans and utility vehicles. The class II ball mount has a capacity of 3,500 lbs and it’s perfect for towing small open utility trailers or a teardrop trailer. The class III ball mount has a capacity between 3,500 lbs and 6,000 lbs and it can tow small enclosed utility trailers or small travel trailers.
- The class IV ball mount: - can be installed on full-size cars, pickups, vans and utility vehicles. It can take on the most weight ranging between 5,000 lbs and 12,000 lbs. This ball mount is great for towing large boat trailers or 5th wheel campers.
RV Water Hoses
Having two water hoses should definitely be on your list. An RV fresh water hose will be one of them, and it will only be used to bring water inside a fresh water tank. The second hose should be a different color so you don't mix them up, and it should be used to sprinkle out the black water tank while you're at a dump station.
The optimal hose length varies on your setup, but I find that a 25′ hose is about right. Anything more than that becomes a pain to pull out from under the trailer.
Trailer Jack
These are also crucial camping trailer accessories you have to take with you. The trailer jacks are used to lift up and lower the RV or trailer so you can safely and easily connect the coupler and disconnect it from the ball on the hitch. There are different trailer jacks that have different uses such as:
- A-Frame Trailer Jacks - They have a capacity of 2,000-5,000 lbs and can be utilized on campers and landscape trailer applications.
- Side Mount Trailer Jacks - The side mount trailer jacks have three different mounting styles including Pull-Pin Swivel, Pipe Mount and Drop-Leg. The Pull-Pin Swivel has a capacity of 800-1,500 lbs and it’s usually utilized on lightweight marine trailers. The Pipe Mount has a capacity of 2,000-7,000 and it’s utilized on small enclosed utility trailers or teardrop trailers. The Drop-Leg has a capacity of 8,000-12,000 lbs and it’s commonly used on industrial, agricultural and construction trailers.
- RV Landing Gear And Heavy Duty Jacks - These jacks have a capacity of 6,000-12,000 lbs. They usually come in pairs and are most commonly used on large travel trailers.
- Stabilizing Jacks - Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Stabilizing Tripod Jacks are usually used to prevent sinking and tilting of the fifth wheel. Light-Duty Stabilizing Jacks are best used for small utility trailers and pop-up campers. Scissor Stabilizing Jacks are usually sold in pairs and are used to stabilize or level bigger campers. Pipe Mount Trailer jacks are utilized for campers and trailers that weigh between 2,000 and 7,000 lbs. Slide-out Supports are mainly used for camping trailers up to 10,000 lbs. The Electric and Manual-adjust Stabilizer Jacks are able to level trailers up to 6,000 lbs. The Leveling System is able to automatically level your fifth wheel and it’s controlled remotely. It can carry up to 20,000 lbs. The Slide-in Camper Jacks are usually bought in pairs and they can stabilize up to 3,000 lbs. The Camper Step Stabilizer Jack is utilized to support the camper steps and can only take on 750 lbs.
